How To Lower Stress Levels Without Medicines?

Stress, in the 21st century has become one of the biggest hindrances to good health and nutrition. Starting from chronic diseases to mental health problems, stress can be a common factor is all. However, there are many ways to counter stress without taking heavy medicines. Take a look.

Slow Breathing

Slow, deep breathing (such as diaphragmatic breathing) can trigger the body’s relaxation response, helping reduce stress and cortisol production.

Change Your Diet

Excess sugar can spike cortisol levels. Focus on whole foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Eat foods rich in magnesium like leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and avocados are great sources. Lastly, stay hydrated.

Communicate With Positive People

Be with positive people. Positive social interactions can reduce stress and lower cortisol. Engage in activities that make you feel connected and supported. Another trick is to laugh. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins and lowers cortisol levels. Watch a funny show, listen to a comedy podcast, or engage in lighthearted activities with friends.

Workout

Moderate exercise like walking, swimming, or cycling can lower cortisol levels over time. It’s important to avoid excessive high-intensity workouts, which can actually increase cortisol if done too frequently.

Weightlifting

Weightlifting or resistance training can also reduce cortisol levels when done in moderation.
