The same was said about a mother’s love but a mother of a uniquely abled child is fighting a different kind of battle that is unexpressed by the society. She is not just a parent; she is a caregiver, a warrior, and the rock on which the life of her child depends. However, she provides care to the family almost to the point of self-sacrifice.
This is why women are strong but no one asks her, ‘How are you feeling?’ Mothers often experience a range of emotions, from love and deep connection to stress, exhaustion, and even burnout. They are left with little time for social interactions, leading to loneliness. For her, she surrenders her career, her own space, and even sleep, which a human being is entitled to – not out of compulsion, but by her own free will.
Since they are accompanied by their mothers, we aim to empower mothers with knowledge, self-awareness, family counselling and support. When a mother is empowered, nurtured, and mentally healthy, she fosters a positive environment that enhances the child’s emotional regulation, social skills, and overall progress. Prioritising maternal and women’s well-being through self-care, support systems, and professional help not only benefits the mother but also directly improves the child’s development and emotional security.
Yes, the proper message that needs to be relayed to society is, “When a mother is supported, a child thrives. Her strength fuels their growth, and her well-being shapes their world. Nurture the mother, and you nurture the child.”
