This Organic Baby Kale is one of those products that made me want to jump up and down and squeal with joy when first I spotted it in the grocery store years ago. And years and years later I am still buying it often, so it definitely deserves to be honored as one of my Kalyn’s Kitchen Picks!
My love for kale is well documented on the blog, and although I don’t mind prepping bunches of kale, this mix of ready-to-use organic baby kale is so perfect for the raw kale salads that definitely help me to eat more kale. And this 5 oz. package is also just the amount of kale I need when I’m making some kind of egg bake, breakfast casserole, or soup with kale.
And for anyone who’s not really a fan of kale, the baby kale leaves are definitely milder in flavor than the larger ribs of dark green kale, so people who aren’t fans of kale in general might like this milder version.
Tips for using baby kale in recipes:
When I’m making a salad with baby kale I often pick off the larger stems. If the kale is even the slightest bit wilted when I go to use it, I like to crisp it in a salad spinner in ice cold water for about 10 minutes, then spin dry. If you’re using organic baby kale in a cooked recipe, it would cook a little more quickly than bigger stalks of kale, so adjust the cooking time if needed.
